Mrs. MEKIYA MAMIYO is a motherly figure and a lifelong builder with over 40 years of service in social work, women’s empowerment, and business leadership. She is a proud founding member of some of the nation’s most respected financial institutions, including Awash Bank (1994), United Bank (1998), Oromia International Bank (2008), Enat Bank (2013), ODA Bank, and the International Share Company of Elemo Qiltu. Through her vision, she has created opportunities for families, entrepreneurs, and communities across the country.

A true pioneer, Mrs. Mekiya has transformed Ethiopia’s agricultural and farming landscape. She played a leading role in farming and mechanization in the Arsi, Bale, and Wollega regions and became one of the first to establish rose-exporting businesses, opening doors for the country in international markets. Her efforts have not only created economic opportunities but also set a standard for innovation and excellence in agriculture.

Mrs. Mekiya has also contributed nationally as a Board Member of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce, consistently guiding new initiatives and supporting the growth of emerging institutions and businesses.

Known for her wisdom and nurturing spirit, Mrs. Mekiya has also been a reconciler in times of difficulty, bringing people together, mediating peace, and guiding dialogue between the government and political parties with compassion and fairness.
